RITE: an RPG Zine, DIY Zines on Patreon Soon, and Nearly-a-Doctor

It’s October! There are a thousand things going on, but there are also a lot of things to talk about. Most importantly, for right now, I’m returning back to my roots in the RPG Zine space. I’m releasing an RPG Zine in a couple weeks and then returning to my early youth of making DIY zines.

RITE: an RPG Zine for the Bleak Midwinter, crowdfunding soon

While cleaning out some files, I found an old game: RITE. It’s a game I created as part of a series, but I never finished making the series. Being said, the game is 100% complete! I just need to raise funds for production. See the description:

“In RITE, four humans (or fewer if people want to play multiple roles) will take on unique roles to craft the appropriate sacraments during midwinter. There is no winner in this game. There are no dungeons or combat. It is a game, a ritual perhaps, best played in the evening with friends who you are close to. Use this as a full, standalone experience or as a means of player/setting generation for a different game you'd like to play.”

Here are some nuts and bolts:

• It’s my standard A6-sized zine at 16 pages.

• $7 shipping included to the US, bit extra for international shipping.

• Will go live in a week and a half.

Returning to my roots: Making DIY Zines via Patreon

Once I wrap up RITE, I will be starting up a Patreon so I can produce a small, indie, DIY zine club. Each month, my goal is to create 2 one-page, 8-panel zines that you can get via PDF or I will print and physically mail them to you.

1. Will be game related (either a full game or a resource or a supplement)

2. Will be something else I’m interested in and want to share: music, information, etc.

I won’t launch this until after RITE wraps up, but I’m already making the zines that I want to print and distribute. I am super excited about doing a small thing here.

Travis is concluding PhDing (really soon)

In about a month I should be defending my dissertation. I am thrilled. I have no idea what it’s going to be like having so much more free time. Oh wait, I do. I’m currently doing it by releasing/making games. Soon I’ll be a doctor! That’s a little weird; won’t lie.
